The Datalogic TLu is a high-resolution contrast sensor designed for automation and process control engineers who need reliable, high-speed detection of registration marks and contrast variations on fast-moving production lines. Operating across packaging and labeling machinery, printing machinery, and beverage, food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical manufacturing environments, the TLu delivers switching frequencies up to 20 kHz for precise mark detection at line speed. Red/green LED (526 nm/630 nm with automatic selection) or white LED (400–700 nm) emission options accommodate a wide range of target materials and surface finishes. Setup is straightforward via a two-step teach-in procedure using front-panel push buttons or remote wire inputs, with up to four settings storable in non-volatile EEPROM memory. An IP67-rated ZAMA metal housing with interchangeable glass lenses and a rotatable M12 connector or cable exit ensures reliable integration into demanding industrial installations.

What industries and machine types are the Datalogic TLu Contrast Sensors designed for?
The TLu is designed for packaging and labeling machinery, printing machinery, and beverage, food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industry lines, as well as filling machines, textiles, and electronics manufacturing where reliable registration mark detection is required.
What light emission options does the Datalogic TLu offer, and how does the sensor select between them?
The TLu emits green (526 nm) and red (630 nm) LEDs with automatic wavelength selection, or white LED covering 400–700 nm, depending on which model variant is specified.
What is the operating temperature range and ingress protection rating of the Datalogic TLu Contrast Sensors?
The TLu operates from -10 °C to 55 °C and carries an IP67 mechanical protection rating, making it suitable for demanding industrial environments.
How is the Datalogic TLu set up on the line, and can it be configured remotely without touching the sensor?
Setup uses a two-step teach-in procedure via MARK and BKGD push buttons; alternatively, the REMOTE inputs allow the same configuration to be performed by wire without physically pressing the buttons, and the cable version stores up to 4 settings in non-volatile EEPROM memory.
What power supply does the Datalogic TLu require, and what output types does it support?
It accepts 10–30 Vdc (with reverse polarity protection) and supports NPN or PNP digital outputs with a 200 mA maximum output current, plus an analog output of 0–2 V.
What warranty does Datalogic provide for the TLu Contrast Sensors?
Datalogic covers the TLu with a 36-month warranty from the manufacturing date, under which defective units are repaired or replaced free of charge; the warranty does not cover damage resulting from improper application.
