Albertsons Companies, operating 2,200+ stores across 35 states, partnered with Levata to modernize network infrastructure in distribution centers and manufacturing plants.
Albertsons Companies
Albertsons Companies is one of the largest food and drug retailers in the United States, operating more than 2,200 stores across 35 states and the District of Columbia. Its well-known banners include Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Jewel-Osco, Shaw's, and others. Beyond retail stores, Albertsons runs 22 distribution centers and 19 manufacturing plants that keep its supply chain and private-label production running smoothly.
Following a large Wi-Fi upgrade across retail stores, Albertsons shifted focus to the more complex wired and wireless infrastructure inside its distribution centers and manufacturing plants. These environments—sometimes spanning six buildings and up to five square miles—presented unique challenges.
The current infrastructure had reached end-of-life and was no longer supported, creating significant risk for both primary and backup connectivity. In addition, the company's supply chain department was preparing to roll out a new high-speed voice application that demanded a far more stable, higher-performance wireless environment. Albertsons needed to upgrade and modernize the technology for the supply chain operations.
Albertsons needed a trusted partner to manage network upgrades at scale, and turned to Levata—a long-standing collaborator familiar with their IT environment. With 600+ technicians and strong vendor partnerships, Levata delivered the expertise and end-to-end management required.
The Levata field team worked seamlessly with Albertsons' engineers. Following their creation of the network and Wi-Fi designs, switch configurations, and cable mapping, the Albertsons' team passed the baton to Levata, who handled all the on-site installation components including cabling, switches, and access points—even in freezer environments—installed alongside legacy systems to ensure continuity.
To modernize performance, Levata deployed Juniper Mist AI networking software, providing proactive monitoring, predictive insights, and self-healing to reduce manual troubleshooting and boost wired and wireless reliability.
During go-live, Levata completed cable migrations, updated heat maps, and delivered full documentation. Once stability was confirmed, Levata safely decommissioned old infrastructure.
Albertsons achieved rapid, consistent, and disruption-free migrations across its large facilities. Key outcomes included:
Levata truly is our one-stop shop for network migrations. Their team is our partner throughout the whole process—from site surveys, heat mapping, and Wi-Fi design, to installing cabling, power, switches, and access points.
