The Datalogic Matrix 120 is a fixed-mount industrial 2D imager designed for OEM integrators, machine builders, and automation engineers who need high-performance barcode reading in severely space-constrained installations. As the smallest ultra-compact industrial 2D imager in its class with embedded Ethernet connectivity, it slots into tight assemblies across electronics manufacturing, food and beverage traceability, packaging, print-and-apply lines, chemical and biomedical analysis equipment, and healthcare clinical lab environments. The CMOS sensor with Global Shutter reads all standard 1D symbologies as well as 2D codes including Data Matrix, QR Code, Micro QR, Maxicode, and Aztec, with omnidirectional capability at up to 57 full-frames per second. An IP65-rated zinc alloy housing and a 0–45 °C operating range ensure reliable performance in demanding industrial conditions, while Ethernet, Serial, and USB interfaces provide flexible integration into virtually any host architecture.

FAQs
ico-plus ico-minus
What barcode symbologies can the Datalogic Matrix 120 read?
The Matrix 120 reads all standard 1D symbologies, 2D codes including Data Matrix, QR Code, Micro QR, Maxicode, and Aztec, as well as postal codes such as Royal Mail, Japan Post, Planet, and Postnet, in any orientation thanks to omnidirectional reading capability. It also supports Digimarc Barcode reading technology and multilabel/multicode reading.
What communication interfaces does the Datalogic Matrix 120 support?
The Matrix 120 offers RS-232, RS-422, and USB 2.0 high-speed (USB-CDC and USB-HID) interfaces on all models, with embedded Ethernet (10/100 Mbit/s) available on SER+ETH models only. The Ethernet interface supports TCP/IP, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET-IO, and Modbus TCP protocols, and the device also provides two SW-programmable digital inputs and two SW-programmable digital outputs.
What sensor options are available on the Datalogic Matrix 120, and how do their frame rates differ?
The Matrix 120 is available with a WVGA CMOS sensor (752x480 px) delivering up to 57 full frames per second, or a 1.2 MP CMOS sensor (1280x960 px) delivering up to 36 full frames per second; both use a Global Shutter. Focus is set manually in three precalibrated positions, at 45, 70, and 125 mm for the WVGA model and 45, 80, and 125 mm for the 1.2 MP model.
What are the physical dimensions and weight of the Datalogic Matrix 120?
The SER+USB model measures 45.4 x 31.1 x 23.5 mm and weighs 117 g with cable, while the SER+ETH model measures 45.4 x 48.5 x 23.5 mm and weighs 200 g with cable. The case is made of Zama zinc alloy with a plastic reading window cover.
What environmental protection does the Datalogic Matrix 120 carry, and which industries is it suited for?
The Matrix 120 is rated IP65 for dust and water protection, operates from 0 to 45 °C, and features a glass-free reading window making it suitable for food and beverage environments. ESD-safe models are also available for use in the electronics industry, and the imager is used in applications including factory automation, chemical and biomedical analysis, kiosks, healthcare, and Print and Apply.
How is the Datalogic Matrix 120 configured and set up?
Setup is performed using Datalogic's DL.CODE Windows-based configuration software, accessible via Ethernet or serial interface, and the X-PRESS Human Machine Interface button on the device itself. Host mode programming sequences can also be sent over Serial or Ethernet TCP interfaces.
