The Honeywell PX4ie is a rugged industrial thermal transfer label printer built for IT managers and procurement teams deploying high-volume, mission-critical labeling operations. Designed for continuous 24/7 use in demanding environments such as manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, and compliance-driven industries, it delivers print speeds of up to 12 ips at 203 and 300 dpi, with a 406 dpi option for precision labeling without loss of speed. Its all-metal construction and modular design support integration into automated labeling applications, while Smart Printing capabilities allow stand-alone operation without a host PC. Standard Ethernet connectivity and support for multiple printer command languages — including IPL, ZSim2, DPL, Fingerprint, and Direct Protocol — ensure straightforward deployment in mixed-printer environments. An optional RFID module operating at 865–928 MHz enables simultaneous encoding and printing of EPC Generation 2 smart labels.

FAQs

What print resolutions are available on the Honeywell PX4ie, and does resolution affect top print speed?
The Honeywell PX4ie is available in 203 dpi, 300 dpi, and 406 dpi configurations. At 203 and 300 dpi the print speed reaches 100–300 mm/s (4–12 ips), while at 406 dpi the speed range is 100–250 mm/s (4–10 ips), so high-resolution printing is achieved without a significant speed penalty.
What standard connectivity interfaces does the Honeywell PX4ie ship with, and what optional interfaces are available?
Every Honeywell PX4ie ships standard with Ethernet 10/100 Mbps, RS-232 (up to 115.2 KB/s), and USB 2.0. Optional interfaces include a parallel port (IEEE 1284), an industrial interface board, dual serial ports, an applicator interface, and wireless (IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Certified, WPA2).
Does the Honeywell PX4ie support RFID label encoding?
Yes, RFID is available as an option on the PX4ie. It supports ISO 18000-6C / EPC Generation 2 and operates across the 865–928 MHz UHF band, configured to comply with local regulations including FCC and ETSI.
What media widths and types does the Honeywell PX4ie accept?
The PX4ie accepts label and tag media from 25.4 mm to 120 mm (1 to 4.72 in) wide, in roll-fed or fanfold configuration, with gap, notch, black mark, and continuous sensing. Ribbon types supported are wax, mid-range, and resin, with a maximum roll diameter of 80 mm (3.15 in).
Which printer command languages does the Honeywell PX4ie support, and can it run stand-alone applications without a host PC?
The PX4ie supports Fingerprint (FP), Direct Protocol (DP), IPL, ZSim2 (ZPL-II), and DPL, with XML support for SAP AII and Oracle WMS. As a Smart Printer it can host stand-alone applications written in Fingerprint or Honeywell C#, eliminating the need for a connected PC.
What are the physical dimensions and operating environment specifications for the Honeywell PX4ie?
The PX4ie measures 482 mm x 238 mm x 275 mm (19.0 in x 9.4 in x 10.8 in) and operates at an ambient temperature of +5°C to +40°C (+41°F to +104°F) with humidity of 10% to 90% non-condensing. Its all-metal construction is designed for continuous 24/7 use in demanding industrial environments.
