USB connectivity distinguishes the Honeywell MS9540-38-3, a corded handheld laser barcode scanner supplied as a scanner-only unit with the USB cable sold separately. It achieves a maximum scan resolution of 5 mil across a single-line scan pattern, with a depth of field of 0 in to 8 in at 13 mil, covering a broad symbology set that includes linear codes such as Code 39, Code 128, Code 93 and 93i, EAN-13, UPC-A, ISBT 128, ITF-14, Interleaved 2 of 5, GS1-128 and Trioptic Code, plus stacked formats including GS1 Databar Expanded Stacked and GS1 Databar Stacked Omni directional. The CodeGate button transmits data to the host only on demand, making the scanner well suited to menu-scanning and point-of-sale environments, while placement in a stand can deactivate CodeGate for fully automatic presentation scanning. The black handheld chassis measures 7.8 in tall and 1.6 in deep, with a handle width of 1.8 in and a head width of 3.1 in, weighing 5.25 oz. A five-year limited warranty is included.
